The 2021 Subaru Love Promise Customer and Community Commitment Award

What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

Koby Subaru - Feeding the Gulf Coast

Every day, Subaru dealerships across the country help drivers with everything from finding a new car, to getting a great deal, to service and repairs. We value the communities that we serve and give back annually with the Subaru Share the Love event.

At Koby Subaru, we've been giving back by working with the Feeding the Gulf Coast foodbank every year since 2014. This important organization looks out for people and families, not just in our neighborhood of Mobile, AL, but all over the Central Gulf Coast.

Formerly known as the Bay Area Food Bank, Feeding the Gulf Coast has distributed over 180 million pounds of food since their founding in 1981. They work with local soup kitchens, church pantries, and charitable nonprofit organizations throughout the 24 counties that make up the Central Gulf Coast to ensure that people get the food they need.

Our dealership has both accepted donations from customers and matched every dollar and food item that we've collected. We have collected over $29,550 in 2019! That's resulted in over 125,000 meals for families in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi.

Together, Koby Subaru and Feeding the Gulf Coast strive to create a better, healthier community that's free from hunger. To learn more about Feeding the Gulf Coast, visit, or visit our dealership to make a donation.

Whether they live in our homes or in the wild, Subaru is committed to keeping all animals safe and healthy.

A partner since 2008, Subaru has donated over $28 million to the ASPCA and through Subaru Loves Pets has helped support the rescue, transport, adoption and well-being of over 230,000 animals across the country.

Loving the environment means more than loving the great outdoors. It means working to preserve it.

Since 2018, Subaru has partnered with TerraCycle.  Participating Subaru retailers collect hard-to-recycle trash that was headed to local landfills. We collect approximately 2 tons of this hard-to-recycle trash monthly, which will be converted to furnishings and other usable items and donated locally.

It’s our goal to make the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible.

Since 2015 Subaru, in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement Science, donated over 277,600 award-winning science books.  In addition, through our partnerships with Staples and we supported teachers and students with donations of S400,000 in gift cards and school supplies.

In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.

In 2020, Subaru and its retailers made a donation to Feeding America to provide 50 million meals to help feed people in need during the COVID-19 crisis,* making meals available at 199 local food banks across the country.
*$1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.

We should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. We’re aiming to give as many people that chance as we can.

Since 2016, Subaru and its retailers have partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to donate over 167,000 blankets and 21,500 arts & crafts kits and reached nearly 150,000 patients in more than 780 hospitals nationwide.

Koby Subaru's Commitment to the Animals  –  Stacey Y

Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) sincerely thanks Koby Subaru for all they do for the animals of Greater Mobile. For the last several years, they have supported our organization with thousands of dollars to help us in providing lifesaving care to the cats and dogs at ARF. From sponsorship to donation drives to welcoming our ARF pups as ambassadors at the dealership, the Koby staff our always happy to help. Our four-legged friends always enjoy a visit to Koby where they are greeted with lots of attention and treats. Every year, we are proud to take part in Koby adoption events. Koby also serves as one of our primary sponsors for our yearly Wiggle Waggle Walk in the spring and our Woofstock Festival in October. They continue to be an integral partner to our mission, and we couldn't do what we do without their support. We look forward to the many great things we can do to help the animals in our community, and Koby Subaru will continue to be a part of this effort. Thank you Koby!

Koby Subaru Cares for their Community  –  Amanda Y

Along the Central Gulf Coast, one in five individuals struggles with food insecurity. That includes one in three children. The destruction of recent storms, like Hurricane Sally and Zeta, in combination with the COVID-19 pandemic impact has significantly exacerbated the issue of hunger specifically in our Gulf Coast region. It has been an honor to be the premier charity partner of Koby Subaru for the past eight years. Thanks to their dedication to ending hunger in our communities, we have been able to provide nearly 500,000 meals to those in need. We are truly grateful for generous and kind hearted community partners like Koby Subaru.

Love Koby Subaru  –  Margaret C

I didn’t plan on getting a new Subaru . My 2018 Subaru outback was doing wonderful. The service team at Koby Subaru kept my Subaru running perfectly. However unfortunately I was in a horrific accident where another driver decided to merge into my lane while we were on a bridge with no shoulder. Thankfully the safety features that made us decide to buy that Subaru Outback in 2018 saved my life. We didn’t want to get a rental car. We immediately went back to Koby Subaru in Mobile, AL and Mary Barras. Mary again took wonderful care of us and made sure the Subaru that we got was exactly what we wanted. She is the best! Love my 2020 Subaru Outback!

Koby Subaru Shares the Love for Feeding People  –  Stefanie B

In 2013, Koby Subaru contacted Feeding the Gulf Coast about doing a food and fund drive to support the nonprofit. Since then, Koby Subaru has worked each year to raise dollars and food donations to support Feeding the Gulf Coast's hunger relief efforts in the 24 counties it serves along the Central Gulf Coast of Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. In addition to providing funds, employees from Koby Subaru have contributed their time to volunteer at our warehouse in Theodore, Alabama to help sort food donations, a critical part of our operations! In total, Koby Subaru has helped raise more than $71,300, which equals 356,000 meals to support the local community. These donations from Koby Subaru help people like Dana, who struggle to feed their families even while working long hours. "I’ve been a single mom to my three children for the last six years. Between paying for clothes, insurance, and school supplies—things get expensive. When I first started raising my children, there were a lot of times when I wondered where I would get the food to feed them. Sometimes I’d only eat once a day so I could make sure they would have three meals. There came a point when I knew I had to ask for help—that I could not do this all on my own. Since I found the food pantry, I’ve not had to worry about my children going hungry." Thank you, Koby Subaru, for helping Feeding the Gulf Coast feed the 1 in 6 people along the Central Gulf Coast who face hunger!

MLK Day of Service  –  Abby G

On February 2, 2019, the Dog River Clearwater Revival, the City of Mobile, and Walmart hosted an MLK Day of Service cleaning up an inlet to Eslava Creek. Koby Subaru was proud to send a team of 5 volunteers to assist! Overall, more than 40 people sacrificed their Saturday in order to make this world just a little less polluted. This creek isn’t only a popular spot for swimming, fishing, and paddling, it’s also an important part of the much larger Dog River Watershed which encompasses the majority of Mobile. Everything washing downstream eventually affects the health of both Dog River and the Mobile Bay. Over many years this inlet has been packed with plastic bags, general trash, appliances, and even car parts. Over the last 2 years, the city made a concerted effort to get the inlet cleared of vegetation so volunteers could safely get in there to pick up the garbage. At the end of the day, approximately enough trash and debris was removed to fill a large dumpster! It’s a rare privilege to work for a company like Koby Subaru, who enthusiastically embraces the Subaru Love Promise. As a team, we recognize the need to put our energy and time in projects that embody the love for the earth and making positive long-term impacts.

Feeding the Gulf Coast  –  Penny D

I purchased my Subaru Ascent Touring at the end of 2018 during Subaru's Share the Love event. Among the national charities listed, one option was a local food bank- Feeding the Gulf Coast. Koby Subaru matched all donations to Feeding the Gulf Coast if that particular charity was chosen. I am familiar with them as I have donated to Feeding the Gulf Coast in the past and they do a lot for local children as well as our neighbors in Florida following the devastation of Hurricane Michael last year. I just loved that Koby Subaru matched it because it shows their support of our local community. This is our first Subaru but I have been so pleased with the sense of "family" the entire company provides.

Koby Subaru Puts Love Promise into Action  –  Chris A

We at Animal Rescue Foundation of Mobile, Alabama would like to extend a sincere heartfelt thank you to Koby Subaru for sponsoring a donation drive as part of their Subaru Loves Pets October celebration. Staying true to Koby's commitment towards "keeping all animals safe and healthy", needed supplies and monetary donations were gathered to do just that! Animal Rescue Foundation is so grateful to Koby Subaru for affording our community the opportunity to contribute to the well being of our fur babies who are in need of a loving forever home. Our mission at ARF is "to eliminate suffering of animals and to increase public awareness of the philosophy of reverence of life." Koby Subaru has partnered with ARF to actively move towards achieving this goal.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society  –  Taylor S

Through the Subaru "Loves to Care" program, Koby Subaru showed just how much they love to care during a recent blanket delivery to a local hospital. Mobile's USA Mitchell Cancer Institute received 70 blankets and care packages for local cancer patients who are currently in treatment, as well as crayola care kits for the children in treatment. Koby Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society were thrilled to be able to provide a little comfort to patients here locally, but more importantly, USA Micthell was even more excited to have the opportunity to watch the faces of those in treatment light up who receive a little something special.

Koby Subaru Blood Drive!  –  Danielle R

Aside from breaking new sales records this year, Koby Subaru LOVES to give back to the community! That is why we chose to host our first blood drive with LifeSouth Community Blood Center in Mobile. Did you know that for every blood donation up to three lives can be saved? Pretty awesome, right? What's even more amazing is that for every blood donation given to LifeSouth, the blood is shipped directly to a local hospital! So every donation helps someone local that is in need! After learning all the helpful ways LifeSouth helps our community, we felt compelled to host our first blood drive. With the help of our customers we were able to collect 13 blood donations and save up to 39 lives. Thank you to everyone who participated! Helping those in need!  –  Margie M

For the month of June, Koby Subaru hit the streets of Mobile Alabama in search of helping someone in need. We threw around a few ideas and there were several routes we could have taken, but ultimately our hearts were set on helping Project Purr Animal Rescue, a little non-profit animal rescue center serving the Mobile, Alabama area. This non-profit animal rescue center rescues cats from local shelters that are going to be euthanized. After the cats have been rescued, they are taken to a local Vet, where they are given an examination, brought up to date on their shots, and spayed or neutered. The owners of the rescue center are financially responsible for the cost of each vet visits, and these visits are payed for by the donations given to the shelter. After these rescue cats have been saved, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered they are ready to be adopted! To help Project Purr we held our first annual Pet Food Drive for the month of June. At the end of the month we were able to deliver 127 pounds of dry pet food, cat toys, canned food, and a few other necessities !
